Shelly Cox arrived in the Cayman Islands in January of 2005 and, despite the fact that this was just a few months after Hurricane Ivan, she immediately fell in love with the laid-back way of life and the natural beauty of the Island and its people. Shelly is originally from Bristol in England and works as an Executive Legal Assistant at a local law firm, Stuarts Walker Hersant. She has been involved with the Cayman Islands Rugby Club for a number of years and held the position of Social Secretary for two years, where she was solely in charge of fundraising for the ladies’ team – She also played several international rugby matches and enjoyed her time at the club very much before retiring as a player due to an injury.

Shelly has been involved with Movember Cayman since 2006 and sits on the Board and is primarily in charge of fundraising and PR for this event. Movember has raised a significant amount of money for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society over the last five years and is one of the top, if not the number one, fundraisers for the CICS. Shelly is looking forward to her final year of involvement with this very worthwhile cause before she leaves the island in January 2012 due to the rollover policy.

Shelly’s brother has Type 1 diabetes so she is always keen to help fundraise for any diabetes charities and has agreed to run her first half marathon in this December’s race. Shelly, who has never run further than 1km, will blog of her progress on our website.
